USC quarterback Sam Darnold turned a terrible play into a miraculous one for a touchdown against Colorado.

Saturday was a big day for the USC Trojans. They were able to knock off visiting Colorado and pick up their second straight win of the season. More importantly, they were able to get back into the thick of things in the Pac-12 South. While it was a close game, a little magic from quarterback Sam Darnold helped lead them to a win.

As Darnold fumbled a snap, it looked like the Colorado defense was going to bring him down. He scrambled around aimlessly with nowhere to go and kept running backwards with no end goal in sight. Then Darnold just flipped the ball in the air helplessly and it was caught by tight end Tyler Petite.

Petite would then take the pass the rest of the way and work his way by a defender for the score. Words don’t do the touchdown justice, as it was a play that was doomed from the start. Nonetheless, give credit to Darnold for not giving up on the play and making something out of nothing.

As for Colorado, they have to be wondering exactly how they weren’t able to bring the quarterback down, let alone give up a touchdown. After doing so much to get to the top of the division, the Buffaloes suffered their first loss in conference play.
