According to Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens are planning to fire offensive coordinator Marc Trestman.

The Baltimore Ravens are searching for answers following two close losses to the Oakland Raiders and the Washington Redskins. Their offense has been poor in both games, being unable to get anything going in the first half against the Raiders and second half against the Redskins. According to Adam Schefter, the Ravens will fire offensive coordinator Marc Trestman.

The Ravens will be replacing Trestman with quarterback coach Marty Mornhinweg. Mornhinweg has experience as an offensive coordinator, serving in that role with the Philadelphia Eagles and most recently the New York Jets. This should serve as a wakeup call to a stagnant offense. Perhaps with better play calling, the Ravens can right their ship and stay in the playoff picture.

For Trestman, this could mean the end of the line. He hasn’t impressed during his time in the NFL, failing with the Chicago Bears and now the Ravens. However, Trestman could always go back to the CFL where he has quite the track record for success.

The Ravens running game did solid on Sunday against the Redskins, but the Ravens inexplicably abandoned it. Mornhinweg should be an upgrade over Trestman. He at least has some experience at the NFL level. While he hasn’t been outstanding, he did well with the Eagles from 2006 to 2012.

Baltimore’s offense has what it takes to be successful. They have an above average quarterback in Joe Flacco with three competent running backs. Terrance West, Javorius “Buck” Allen, and 2016 draft pick Kenneth Dixon give the Ravens tons of options in the backfield. They have Mike Wallace and Steve Smith Sr. leading their receivers. With a little bit of tinkering, the Ravens could easily fix their offensive woes. They will face the New York Giants on Sunday.
