1. Age is no longer an issue

Winning the Heisman is all about the top players “striking the pose” each and every year. But of course, it always doesn’t occur. In the past, there have been some questionable winners over the years. In addition to a list of questionable winners, there have been some sketchy invitees that made the trip to New York City.

Nobody will admit it, but I’m sure it had a lot of that had to do with the abhorrence towards freshman football players. In spite of players who dominated the college ranks a bit too soon after their high school prom, they weren’t afforded the opportunity to win college football’s much-loved honor.

College football is no stranger to witnessing a freshman having an immediate impact. Thanks to Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston, the bias against freshmen is non-existent. For years, many elite freshmen such as Maurice Clarett, Larry Fitzgerald, and Adrian Peterson were shunned from winning the Heisman Trophy.

Age was a clear factor because production was surely wasn’t. Now that the qualms with age are no longer an issue, Hurts has a legitimate shot walk away with the trophy, due to the riddance of unfairness towards star freshman football players.
