Here’s how to watch Thursday night’s matchup between the New Jersey Devils and Boston Bruins online.

A pair of Eastern Conference playoff hopefuls will square off in an early season showdown when the New Jersey Devils take on the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at TD Garden.

Following a surprising turnaround season that fell short of a playoff berth, the Devils are hoping to take the next step in 2016-17. The Devils earned their first win of the season in a 2-1 triumph against the Anaheim Ducks after a pair of close losses to the Florida Panthers in overtime and Tampa Bay Lightning to begin the year.

Continuing a trend from last year, the defense and goaltending have been strong, as Cory Schneider has conceded just fewer than two goals per contest. The offense looked like the problem before the season, but new acquisition Taylor Hall has played well with two goals. Kyle Palmieri has also continued his strong form with a goal and an assist.

The Bruins are looking to rebound from a disappointing playoff miss in 2015-16. Boston is off to a 2-1 start, with the only blemish coming last Saturday in a 4-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs before having little trouble with the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

Following his terrific World Cup of Hockey campaign, Brad Marchand has two goals and five assists to lead the Bruins in points in the early going. David Pastrnak is in good form with four goals, while free agent acquisition David Backes has also played well after signing a five-year, $30 million contract in the offseason.
