Hot Seat Watch: 5 coaches who need to win Week 8
2. Jim Mora
The downward spiral of the UCLA Bruins continues. The Bruins have lost two games in a row and now have four losses on the season. With three conference losses on the year, UCLA has taken themselves out of the race in the Pac-12 South barring a miracle.
They also are dealing with injury issues to Josh Rosen and the fact that the talent on the team isn’t living up to the preseason hype that they had. It’s one thing to have a down year, but to have one when there were high expectations is hard for any coach to survive.
Jim Mora has been given every opportunity at UCLA and he simply hasn’t delivered. The talent has been there for him to succeed and they had some nice seasons. Those seasons aren’t enough to guarantee that he keeps his job going forward.
Each passing loss this season makes the leash on him tighter. If there’s a better option available, the Bruins are going to examine and ultimately decide if Mora can ever make them a true contender in the conference.
