170. 19-year old Jonathan Jeanne is best described as a work in progress who has nearly all of the physical tools that make him an attractive NBA prospect. Jeanne is a ridiculous 7-foot-2 with a 7-foot-7 wingspan, length that gives him the base to be a highly effective rim protector in the NBA. He also moves well for a player of his size, suggesting that there might be some intriguing versatility on that end. What’s concerning about Jeanne is that he has an incredibly slight frame and will need to add significant weight in order to be able to handle the physical battles that await him facing tougher competition.
Offensively, Jeanne also offers nice versatility. He’s able to knock down jump shots off the dribble and can attack defenders off the dribble, two skills that would be useful in the NBA where he will likely be guarded by more plodding centers than himself.

For Charlotte, this pick would represent an investment in developing a future talent. The Hornets are nowhere near competing for Eastern Conference titles, so taking some risks in the draft makes sense as the franchise attempts to turn itself into a relevant player in the standings. Jeanne is certainly more of an unknown than most first round graded prospects because of his lack of experience against high level competition, but his base makes him an intriguing option.
. PF/C.
