LeBron James throws sick behind-the-back pass to J.R. Smith (Video)
Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James was making highlight passes to his teammates early in the opener against the New York Knicks.
With Tuesday night being perhaps the biggest sports night in the history of Cleveland sports, there was plenty of emotion in The Q Arena. The Cleveland Cavaliers raised their championship banner and received their rings. LeBron James was also making highlight plays early for his team, per the norm.
As James backed down Carmelo Anthony, he saw J.R. Smith cutting to the hoop. With great precision, James threw a beautiful behind-the-back pass to Smith, who scored on a layup and brought the Cleveland fans to their feet.
It was a textbook play from James, as he worked the defender and caught the other defenders looking at him. That’s what makes him so dangerous as a player, because of his ability open things up on the floor for others.
Smith is always one of his favorite recipients and he was on the receiving end of a great early bucket. With a play like that involving superstars on both ends, it’s going in the highlight reel for this game. The two teams traded baskets early, but it was this play by James that really opened up the offense for Cleveland.
