Dwyane Wade had a memorable first game with the Chicago Bulls and provided extra emphasis with this shot.

While Kevin Durant made headlines in the 2016 NBA offseason for his move to Golden State, Dwyane Wade had his own interesting summer. After 13 years with the Miami Heat, he left to join his hometown Chicago Bulls on a two-year, $47 million deal with a player option for the second season.

On Thursday night, Wade would make his official Bulls debut against the Boston Celtics. He got the chance to do this at home too.

In the final minute, Chicago had a narrow two-point lead at 101-99. The ball would get placed in Wade’s hands with a few dozen seconds remaining, and just like his days in Miami, he sunk a clutch three-pointer to put his team up, 104-99.

Throughout the game, the 2003 first round pick showed plenty of emotion. Once he nailed this shot, he did a throat-slashing motion to put a stamp on what he just did.

This three-pointer capped off a solid debut for Wade as a Bull. He had 22 points five assists, and four rebounds, but the most significant stat may have been the four three-pointers he hit, which is three away from the seven he had all of last season.

Wade is a career 28 percent shooter from distance, and while it shouldn’t be expected that he’s suddenly a marksman, it’s good to see that there’s some hope for an outside game for the Bulls. They’re full of players who don’t stretch the floor, so any kind of perimeter shooting they can receive is beneficial.

Dwyane Wade got his Bulls career off to a hot start and will look to continue it this weekend. He’ll look to lead this team to an eventual playoff spot in the spring, and potentially challenge for one of the top seeds in the Eastern Conference.
