When do the early season college basketball 2016 tournaments start? 

The 2016-17 NCAA basketball season will feature 19 early season tournaments. Seventeen of them will be held in November while two of them will be held in December. Early season tournaments are a great way for teams to face strong competition early on, while helping a charitable cause or getting to travel. Here’s a list of each of the college basketball 2016 tournaments, who’s playing in them, and when they start.

The Maui Invitational will start on Nov. 21. It will feature Tennessee vs. Wisconsin, Georgetown vs. Oregon, Oklahoma State vs. UConn, and North Carolina vs. Chaminade. The semifinals start on the 22nd and the championship will be on the 23rd.

A unique tournament is the Battle For Atlantis, held on Nov. 23. Its quarterfinal games include VCU vs. Baylor, Michigan State vs. St. John’s, Louisville vs. Old Dominion, and Wichita State vs. LSU.

The Wooden Legacy Tournament will start on Nov. 24. It will feature UCLA vs. Portland, Dayton vs. Nebraska, Virginia Tech vs. New Mexico, and Texas A&M vs. Cal-State Northridge.

Also starting on Nov. 24 will be the Preseason NIT tournament. Its semifinal games will be West Virginia vs. Illinois and Florida State vs. Temple.

The Puerto Rico Tip-off will be held beginning Nov. 17. Matching up in the quarterfinals will be Xavier vs. Missouri, Clemson vs. Davidson, Arizona State vs. Northern Iowa, and Oklahoma vs. Tulane.

In Orlando, the AdvoCare Invitational will start Nov. 24. Squaring off will be Gonzaga vs. Quinnipiac, Seton Hall vs. Florida, Iowa State vs. Indiana State, and Miami vs. Stanford.

The Cancun Challenge will start on Nov. 22, featuring games between Purdue and Utah State, as well as Auburn and Texas Tech. On Nov. 17, the Charleston Classic will get underway. Its games include Villanova and Western Michigan, Wake Forest and UTEP, Mississippi State and UCF, and Boise State and College of Charleston.

On Dec. 22, the Las Vegas Classic starts  and will feature DePaul vs. Wyoming and USC vs. Missouri State. Another tournament held in Vegas, the Las Vegas Invitational, will start on Nov. 24. It will feature Arizona vs. Santa Clara and Butler vs. Vanderbilt.

Starting on Nov. 21 will be the Legends Classic, featuring Texas, Notre Dame, Northwestern, and Colorado. The Paradise Jam will start on Nov. 18. Squaring off will be Loyola (Chicago) vs. Saint Joseph’s, Oral Roberts vs. Ole Miss, Montana vs. NC State, andWashington State vs. Creighton.

The 2K Sports Classic starts on Nov. 17 and will feature Michigan, Marquette, Pitt, and SMU. Global Sports Classic will start on Nov. 25. This tournament will feature UNLV vs. TCU and
Washington vs. Western Kentucky.

On Nov. 21, the CBE Classic starts. It will feature Kansas vs. UAB and Georgia vs. George Washington. The Hall-of-Fame Tipoff Classic starts on Nov. 19. Its matchups feature Duke vs. Penn State and Cincinnati vs. Rhode Island.

Men Who Speak Up Main Event will start on Nov. 21 and feature BYU, Valpo, Alabama, and Saint Louis. The Barclays Center Classic starts on Nov. 25 and features Maryland vs. Richmond and Boston College vs. Kansas State. Finally, the Holiday Festival starts on Dec. 18 and features St. John’s vs. Penn State and Rutgers vs. Fordham.

The college basketball 2016 season starts off with a bang and it should be a great one.
