The Philadelphia Eagles will square off with the Dallas Cowboys in week 8 in a battle for NFC East supremacy.

Sunday night primetime will feature the Dallas Cowboys against the Philadelphia Eagles with a shot at number one up for grabs, at AT&T Stadium.

After winning there last five games, the Cowboys come into Sundays matchup well rested after a bye week. Rookie duo Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott have demonstrated they can lead a top-ranked Cowboys offense. Between the two they have 13 touchdowns in the last four games, they will need to continue to electrifying if they want to get past a top-ranked Eagles defense. Also something to look for today is the return of Dez Bryant who hasn’t played since Week 3, his presence on the field effects the game dramatically.

Coming off their biggest victory of the season against the undefeated Vikings, the Eagles are eager to claim the top spot. After not throwing an interception through three games, rooking quarterback Carson Wentz continues to have issues with ball security.

Despite the victory last week, Wentz had two interceptions, but the strength of the Eagles defense was enough to put the Vikings away. This week defensive task will be no small as the task is, containing Elliott who has had over 100 rushing yards in his last three games.

Three stars

  1. Dak Prescott

The rookie quarterback will demonstrate that his week off paid dividends, as he will have his way against the Eagles defense. The return of Bryant, albeit not at 100 percent, will be enough to allow a balance pass/run attack. Coupled with Cole Beasley, Prescott will have plenty of targets to choose from throughout the night to move the Cowboy defense.

  1. Ezekiel Elliott

Rookie running will continue to demonstrate he is the truth, going for another 100-yard game. He will be able to expose the Eagles defense who has had their share of struggles defending the run, allowing 102.7 yards per game on the ground. He is the league’s leading rusher and he will demonstrate that again tonight.

  1. Ryan Mathews

Since not producing as much as expected and struggling with late game fumbling, Mathews is going to have his breakout game. The Eagles will need to keep their defense rested, and Mathews will do his part in that. If the Eagles have any chance it will be behind Mathews and his ability to stretch the Cowboy defense.

Next week

Both squads return to the road. The Cowboys can look forward to hitting the road to face off against the Cleveland Browns, while the Eagles square off in another divisional rival against the Giants who will enter the game fresh off a bye week.
