Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo hit a dagger home run in the ninth inning against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night.

Anthony Rizzo has been providing the Chicago Cubs with big hits throughout the season. He has yet to hit a home run in the World Series, but he finally broke through on Tuesday night. As the Cubs held a 7-2 lead late in the game, Rizzo provided a little extra insurance.

He unloaded a deep shot straight into right field and delivered the dagger to any hopes the Indians had of coming back. There was never a doubt once the ball left his bat and all Michael Martinez could do was watch the ball sail comfortably over his head.

Rizzo is one of the favorites in the National League to win the MVP this season and hits like that are a reminder of how big he is for the Cubs. When he’s hitting the baseball and delivering clutch hits, his team is usually on the winning side of things.

They already were in Game 6, but their first baseman made sure to tack on a couple of more. With a great series already on tap, Rizzo wanted to make sure he did his best to ensure a Game 7 with everything on the line.
