Gareth Bale opens the scoring for Real Madrid with a stunning effort. The Welshman took a left footed volley from 25 yards out straight into the upper ninety. Bale strikes the ball cleanly off the hop from outside the box leaving the Legia keeper no chance. This is the kind of goal that doesn’t come along too often, leaving spectators in awe.

Bale scored after just one minute of play. Real Madrid are on their way to another win in Group F as they look to keep pace with Borussia Dortmund, who also lead 1-0 against Sporting Lisbon.

Legia let in six goals to Dortmund so odds are that we see more goals in this one, especially given Real’s attacking firepower. Goal difference may end up playing a factor in this group, as a tie between Real and Borussia is a likely outcome of their upcoming direct meeting.

As things stand right now, the two teams are comfortably ahead of the pack with 10 points each before their direct meeting in Madrid in the next match day. That game will most likely determine the group winners who will be seeded for the playoff elimination round. A win for both teams will mathematically clinch qualification into the next stage of the Champions League for both teams.

Things were not always so comfortable for Real Madrid in this group, as they had to come back in the last 10 minutes at home against Sporting down 1-0. Sporting have been struggling as of late, losing to Dortmund in Lisbon in their previous match. This is a two horse race at this point, especially with results being as they are.
