Goaltenders Ryan Miller and Frederik Andersen got involved when the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs had a line brawl.

Goalies rarely get involved in fights. They usually tend to stay in their crease even when there are multiple fights going on. Most of them are pretty awful fighters, so this is understandable. However, Ryan Miller of the Vancouver Canucks and Frederik Andersen of the Toronto Maple Leafs are exceptions to the rule. When their two teams had a line brawl, both goalies got involved and had to be separated.

This game featured 129 penalty minutes, including 69 by the Canucks. It wasn’t even the first major fight of the game. Before Miller and Andersen threw down, there were three fights. Troy Stecher hit Matt Martin, who went after the Canucks defenseman. To help protect his rookie defenseman of just four NHL games, Miller got involved. Naturally, Andersen came out to get involved too once he realized it was a line brawl.

There were a total of five game misconducts given out. The Canucks were given two while Toronto was given three. Both Miller and Andersen were given misconducts. Miller got an extra fighting major while Andersen was given a minor for leaving his crease.
