How did the coaches on our hot seat watch fare in Week 10?

Week 10 of the college football season could have very well sealed the fate for a lot of coaches around college football. It was a cold week to many and it was a good week to some. For our coaches on our weekly hot seat watch, it was a good week for only one coach out of four.

The rest of the coaches all better band together and hope their teams finish strong, or they could all be out the door real soon. With Week 11 on tap, lets look at how our coaches did in Week 10 and whether or not they will make it to next week.

Next: 5 potential replacements for Rich Rodriguez

Rich Rodriguez

If his job wasn’t in imminent danger before Saturday, Rich Rodriguez could have very well set a blazing inferno on his hot seat with a bad loss on the road. The Arizona Wildcats weren’t going to do well against Washington State anyway, but they lost 69-7. That’s the team’s worst loss since 1949. They also now have seven losses on the season and are likely out of a bowl game. They’re regressing and Rodriguez could be in real trouble.

Brian Kelly

After somehow getting a huge win over Miami last week, Notre Dame squandered it with a loss on Saturday. They lost a tough one by one point to Navy on the road and the team has now fallen to 3-6 on the year. That means their bowl chances could be sealed with one more loss. Their best bet is to hope they can get one of those rare 5-7 bids this season. Even still, Brian Kelly is going to have a tough time surviving that.

Mark Helfrich

If there’s a safe bet to be made, Mark Helfrich is going to be let go real soon. The rumblings are already coming out that Phil Knight is ready to pay whatever amount of money it takes to get a top coach in that can bring the team a National Championship. That signifies that the program has already internally moved on from Helfrich. The team getting stomped by USC might have been the end for him.

Steve Addazio

After pulling a conference win out of nowhere last week, Boston College returned to form this week and got destroyed by Louisville. A lot of other teams have as well, but it dropped the program to five losses on the year. They have Florida State next week. After that, they have to win two straight to end the year or hope for the magical 5-7 bid. That is if they can even win one more. Steve Addazio’s fate isn’t looking too good right now.

Charlie Strong

Charlie Strong’s Texas Longhorns are coming through for him when he needs him most. After a big win over Baylor last week, Texas followed it up with a huge win over Texas Tech this week. That puts them one win away from becoming bowl eligible. After the tough few weeks they had earlier, it’s great to see this team hasn’t quit and is getting even better. That’s a huge sign for Strong.
