Texans at Jaguars Week 10: Game preview, odds, prediction
The Houston Texans are looking for their first road win on Sunday when they visit the disappointing Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
It has been a struggle away from home for the Houston Texans this season. The team has made three trips outside the Lone Star State and have been handed their lunch each time.
Now with an extra week’s rest, Bill O’Brien’s team heads east and squares off with one of its AFC South rivals. The Jacksonville Jaguars own a disappointing 2-6 record and are riding a three-game losing streak.
To make matter worse for the host team, Houston hasn’t had much of a problem in this series as of late. The Texans have won four straight meetings and nine of the clubs’ last 11 encounters. And the Jaguars have dropped four of their last five at home in this divisional rivalry.
Odds
Line: Texans (-1.5)
Over/Under: 42.5
Neither Brock Osweiler nor Blake Bortles have done much to impress to date. The Texans signal-caller has failed to throw for at least 200 yards in four games (including all 3 road tilts). He has committed at least one turnover in each of his eight appearances.
Bortles is completing just 59.2 percent of his throws for 2,156 yards and 14 scores. But he’s already been picked off 12 times and lost both of his fumbles. The third-year pro has been sacked 19 times this season. He will be facing some heat from outside linebackers Whitney Mercilus (4.5 sacks), Jadeveon Clowney (3.0) and John Simon (2.5).

The Texans have looked like a lost football team every time they hit the road this season. Will things change because the Jaguars have played less-than-scintillating football all year? It will if O’Brien takes the reins off Osweiler a bit as the Houston attack has looked tentative at best to date. Jacksonville looks like a team that is minus a lot of confidence these days and the Texans plan to take advantage of that fact.
Pick: Texans 29, Jaguars 21
