The Pistons visit the Spurs tonight in San Antonio. Here’s how to watch.

The Detroit Pistons (4-4) will look to get over the .500 hump as they face the San Antonio Spurs (5-3) at the AT&T Center tonight. Opening tip is at 8:30 p.m. ET for the cross-conference matchup.

The visiting Pistons, after a strong 4-2 start to the season, dropped the first two games of their four-game west coast road trip earlier this week, with losses to the Clippers (82-114) and Suns (100-107). They will look to get back on track against a Spurs team that has also struggled as of late and is playing at one of the slowest paces in the league. The Pistons may look to exploit the Spurs down low with Andre Drummond, who has yet to find the same pick-and-roll groove with Ish Smith that he had with Reggie Jackson last season.

Luckily for Detroit, Jackson (knee injury) is slated to return at the end of November and will give the Pistons a much needed boost in the starting lineup. The team has been getting solid contributions from Tobias Harris (16.8 ppg, 49.5 FG%) and Marcus Morris (16.4 ppg, 45.9 FG%), while shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope poured in a season-high 27 points against the Suns on Wednesday. With their game against the Spurs, the Pistons will be looking to obtain their first road win of the season as they are currently 0-4 away from the Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Spurs, who started a perfect 4-0, are 1-3 in their last four games and are coming off a close loss to the Houston Rockets (99-101) on Wednesday. Prior to that game, the Spurs were blown out by the upstart Los Angeles Clippers (92-116), as the traditionally dominant defense gave up two straight 100 point games. The Spurs are getting an MVP-caliber performance from All-Star Kawhi Leonard (career-high 27.4 ppg), while LaMarcus Aldridge has been in double-digit scoring in every game (18.1 ppg), but has not posted double-digit rebounds since the season opener (6.6 rpg).

The biggest shock so far for the Spurs has been the sparing use of their big free agency acquisition, center Pau Gasol. The 36-year-old, 16-year veteran, while starting for San Antonio, is averaging 8.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 2 apg in just 21:53 mpg. All of those are career lows for the Spaniard, who has seen his minutes drastically reduced in his first season as a Spur; he has never been under 31 mpg in his prior 15 seasons. While Pau’s benching can be attributed to matchups or keeping him fresh for the playoffs, one has to wonder if coach Gregg Popovich will reconsider playing the veteran more if the Spurs continue to drop games against top opponents.

While the Pistons try to grab their first road win of the season, the Spurs will try to stop the bleeding at home, having lost three straight at the At&T Center going into tonight’s game. To put that into perspective, the Spurs lost just one game at home during the entire 2015-16 regular season. The last time the Spurs lost four straight games at home was all the way back in January 2002.
