Here’s how you can watch Saturday afternoon’s Michigan State vs Rutgers game from East Lansing online.

Who would’ve thought Michigan State would be 2-7 through nine games just one year removed from a College Football Playoff performance? Definitely not me, but the Spartans have been oft-injured and are missing senior leadership.

Tyler O’Connor has replaced Connor Cook at the quarterback position and has been a major disappointment. He has 1,606 yards with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Brian Lewerke, a freshman, was on pace to replace him but he suffered a broken leg.

Senior receiver R.J. Shelton has been a bright spot, though, catching 44 passes for 678 yards and five touchdowns with freshman Donnie Corley right behind him. The future is bright for the Spartans, but this transition year has been tough.

It has been just as bad of a season for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and first-year head coach Chris Ash — a former Ohio State assistant. Still, they weren’t expecting as much as the Spartans were to start the season, so they will be playing with nothing to lose Saturday.

Chris Laviano began the season as the starting quarterback but has since been replaced by junior Giovanni Rescigno. He has started three straight games and has passed for 598 yards and five touchdowns with three interceptions.

There hasn’t been an elite area for this offense, but Robert Martin is arguably the top performer on this side of the ball. He has rushed for 515 yards and a touchdown on 5.3 yards per carry. However, he hasn’t played in the past two games.
