Stock Up: Jason Cabinda, LB, Penn State

Since missing five games with what appeared to be a broken hand, #10 Penn State’s outspoken leader Jason Cabinda has given life to the Nittany Lions. He returned after nearly a month of rehab to the primetime Ohio State game that pushed Penn State into the national spotlight. In that game he recorded 13 tackles and had a critical sack on J.T. Barrett.

Penn State is undefeated when Cabinda is on the field this year, highlighting the importance of the junior’s presence on the field.

Against Iowa last weekend, Cabinda made some critical stops in the 41-14 demolishing of the Hawkeyes. Late game tackles helped seal the victory, despite the game being out of hand for Iowa.

Penn State is synonymous for producing NFL linebackers, hence the nickname “Linebacker U.” From Navorro Bowman, Mike Hull, Tamba Hali, Gerald Hodges, Sean Lee, Michael Mauti, and Paul Posluszny you can find Nittany Lions across NFL front-sevens. Jason Cabinda is well on his way to joining those names, some of whom are potential Hall of Famers.

Should the junior linebacker leave this season, he would most likely be a third round draft pick who could make an impact immediately in the NFL.
