The Atlanta Falcons will head to Philadelphia on Sunday for a classic NFC showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles. Two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL will square off.

Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles will welcome the Atlanta Falcons to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday in a matchup of two teams going in opposite directions. While Atlanta has a two game winning streak, the Eagles will look to end a two game losing streak. The game will feature two great quarterbacks, including Matt Ryan who is playing as well as he’s ever played in his young career.

Atlanta’s greatest strength is their offense. It’s led by Ryan and his favorite wide receiver Julio Jones. Jones leads the NFL in receiving yards with 970. Meanwhile, Ryan leads the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns. Their offense has put up a league best 305 points so far in their first nine games. Atlanta is 4-1 on the road this year and they’ll look to improve on that impressive mark on Sunday.

On the other side of the field, the Eagles are led by their defense. While their offense has been impressive recently with 202 points in eight games, their success has largely been due to their suffocating defense. Philadelphia’s defense has allowed just 145 points, the fifth fewest in the NFL. Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz has been slumping recently, but has still shown remarkable composure for a first year player.

Expect a showdown between the NFL’s top offense and one of its top defenses. Atlanta must shut down the Eagles offense. The Falcons defense has struggled a bit, allowing 259 points (third most in the league). Considering the Eagles are at home, this should be a good test for Atlanta’s offense as well.

Highlights

Highlights will be posted throughout the game.

Three Stars

1. Matt Ryan

Matt Ryan has developed into one of the NFL’s most impressive quarterbacks. The Falcons offense lives through him. When he does well, Atlanta tends to win. However, when he doesn’t do well, they typically lose. Even when Julio Jones has been held in check, Ryan has been able to make things happen and get other players involved.

2. Julio Jones

While the Eagles have a great pass defense, Jones is a freak of nature. When he is on his game, Julio might be the most unstoppable force in the NFL. Expect him to have a huge impact, whether it shows up on the scoresheet or not. Even when he isn’t getting catches and touchdowns, Jones forces defenses to adjust and allows other players to have success.

3. Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz should have a strong day against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Wentz might not have a true number one receiver, but he’s quite efficient at spreading the ball around. Expect him to put up at least 300 yards against a questionable at best Falcons defense.
