A look at the latest set of Big 12 power rankings for Week 12.

The latest week of college football play saw three of the top four teams falter. None of them were Big 12 teams, so this could be the week where some of these schools begin to rise into the top 10.

The top Big 12 teams continued to reign supreme as Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia all won their games. They should each have a top 10-15 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings.

On the other hand, Baylor fell for a third straight week. Starting quarterback Seth Russell also went down with an ankle injury that will sideline him. Their once-promising season has now become a test to see if they can avoid going 6-6.

All of this made for another wild week in the Big 12, so how did this affect the latest rankings?

The battle of the worst teams in the Big 12, Kansas and Iowa State, resulted in a close one. However, the Cyclones, who had played better than the Jayhawks throughout the season, edged it out, 31-24. This finally broke up the No. 9 and 10 teams in the conference, something that will probably stand through the last two weeks.

Kansas now has to play Texas and Kansas State to close out the season. They by far aren’t the best team in the conference, but both are talented enough to keep the one-win school at this number for the remainder of the season. From there, they’ll regroup in the offseason and hope to have things go better in 2017.
