High Salary PG

Russell Westbrook-Oklahoma City Thunder (10,800): Players who cost over 10K don’t usually seem like “bargains,” but with Westbrook’s recent production he’s hard to ignore at under 11K. Last night he lit up the Magic with a monster 41-16-12 triple-double for 83.5 fantasy points. Heh as over 55 fantasy points in each of his last three games and is getting incredibly high usage in OKC’s offense. He is in a tougher matchup tonight against the Pistons, but Detroit doesn’t have Reggie Jackson and are starting Ish Smith which should allow Westbrook to still compile nice numbers even though he’s playing his third game in the last four days.∗∗∗∗

Chris Paul-Los Angeles Clippers (8,700): Another star PG taking on a depleted opponent is Chris Paul of the Clippers as he faces the Nets who have been without Jeremy Lin, Isaiah Whitehead, and Greivis Vasquez (who they cut). Whitehead could be back but his return still will make a good matchup for CP3 against the Nets who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game in the NBA to opposing PG. Paul has good form rolling into this one with over 37 fantasy points in eight straight and at least 44 fantasy points in five of those contests. He has played limited minutes in some of those games because of blowouts which is the only real risk in starting him tonight. Paul and the Clippers have looked great so far this season, so it is definitely a possibility that they put this game away early and Paul plays under 30 minutes. Even if that’s the case, the good matchup makes him a nice target especially with all the other injury situations near the top of the PG salary structure.

J.J. Barea-Dallas Mavericks (6,800): Barea got the night off as the Mavericks faced the Warriors last Wednesday, but after almost a full week off, he should be rested and ready to go tonight against the Knicks. Dallas is expected to get Dirk Nowitzki back soon, but Deron Williams is still a ways away from his return. Barea should continue to log heavy minutes until the roster is back to 100%. Before getting his off-day, Barea had 18 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists against the Lakers for 37.75 fantasy points. He has at least 33 fantasy points in four of his last five games and is playing 30+ minutes most nights as one of coach Rick Carlisle’s favorite backcourt solutions. If you’re spending under 7K tonight, Barea is one of the best options to check out.

Jeff Teague-Indiana Pacers (6,400): The Pacers get the good matchup that Westbrook took advantage of last night as they welcome in the Magic tonight. Teague has been a little up-and-down in his time with his new team in Indiana, but he is usually good for at least 25 fantasy points. He has that many in five of his last seven games including his most recent game which was Saturday against the Celtics. Teague’s 20 points, four assists, and there rebounds were decent, but he should be able to do better tonight since the Magic are in the top ten in most fantasy points per game given up to opposing PGs. Teague has a lot of variation from game to game, but last week he did put up over 50 fantasy points showing he has a very high ceiling. ∗∗
