NFL Mock Draft: Deshaun Watson falling
By Brad Weiss
The Cincinnati Bengals have struggled this season, and incredibly, head coach Marvin Lewis’ tenure with the team may be coming to an end. However, for now, it is still his team, and there are not many better head coaches out there. The 2017 NFL Draft could be a big one in deciding his future, so the team cannot afford to miss with their first round pick.
The team needs help on the edges, and they should go for a solid defensive end in the first round. This draft class is filled with big-time talent at the position, with Tennessee end Derek Barnett being one of the best. He has improved his draft stock immensely over the past few weeks, and has put himself in position to be the first edge rusher off the board in April.
Barnett is lightning quick off the ball, and has that uncanny ability to get after the quarterback. He is also one of the hardest hitting players in the SEC, and has played very productive football despite being double and triple-teamed often for the Volunteers. Coach Lewis is a defensive-minded coach, and adding a player of Barnett’s talent will mix well with their cast of characters on defense.
