A team many felt could actually challenge for a division title this year has been dreadful in 2016. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has not come close to recapturing the form that saw him enjoy a career year with the Jets a season ago. But New York’s supposedly-formidable defensive unit deserves its share of the blame as well. Cornerback Darrelle Revis has looked old (his own words) and Todd Bowles’ club has allowed a ton of big plays both on the ground and through the air. And thanks mainly to their erratic starting signal-caller, the Green and White has already given up the football 20 times in 10 games. This was a 10-6 club that committed only 24 turnovers all of last season.
Next Week: The rested Jets face the New England Patriots for the first time this season. Bill Belichick’s team toyed with the 49ers in San Francisco on Sunday. As for a positive spin for New York, they have defeated the Pats two of the last three years at MetLife Stadium – both victories coming in overtime.

Playoff hopes: Even if the Jets somehow manage to miraculously run the table, their chances at a postseason appearance are slim indeed. They are five games behind the first-place Patriots in the AFC East so you can forget a division title. The team also owns a losing mark within the conference (3-4) and is trailing too many teams in the AFC. Long odds here.
. 3-7. Previous: . New York Jets. 27. team. 30
