Michigan star Jabrill Peppers finally came up with one thing that’s eluded him over his college career, nabbing his first interception.

Jabrill Peppers is going to be a top-10 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Michigan Wolverines star is the poster-boy for versatility, doing it all for his team. However, the one knock on him as of late among scouts has been his lack of creating turnovers. Despite his tremendous play and playmaking, the hybrid linebacker/safety didn’t have an interception for his career entering The Game against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Funny how big-time players can silence critics on the big stage.

After Michigan took a 10-7 lead into halftime on the shoulders of a dominant defensive effort, they were trying for a big stop early in the third quarter. Another draft prospect for the Wolverines, defensive lineman Chris Wormley, blew up his man and got after Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett.

The quarterback tried to get the throw off, but it was well off target. Buckeyes receiver Curtis Samuel was able to get a hand on it, but only tipped the ball into the air. Of course Peppers was in the area ready to make a play. Subsequently, he took the easy interception and gave the Wolverines a great look early in the second half.

Granted, the deflection made by Samuel allowed Peppers to make the play. However, bit-time stars are always there to make that play and the Michigan star undoubtedly was.

Unfortunately for the Wolverines, they weren’t able to capitalize on Peppers’ first interception of his career. Though they drove the ball quickly down to the goal-line, quarterback Wilton Speight fumbled the exchange with the center and Ohio State recovered. But Michigan’s defense came up big again to force a turnover on downs. They didn’t miss that opportunity, scoring to take a 17-7 lead in the rivalry matchup.
