South Florida running back Marlon Mack put on a wild display of playmaking as he would not be denied a huge touchdown run.

The South Florida Bulls have quietly put together quite a good year in the 2016 college football season. Entering their rivalry matchup against the UCF Knights on Saturday, they sat at 9-2. Perhaps the biggest part of their success has been their elite running game, anchored by Marlon Mack.

Though Mack might not be a name many are familiar with, he has NFL potential as a running back. He’s expected to hear his named called in April’s 2017 NFL Draft and rightfully so. He has the speed, vision, and elusiveness to really make plays at the next level. Of course right now and on Saturday, he’s still making big plays for South Florida.

With the Bulls already out to a 17-7 lead midway through the second quarter, they were approaching midfield. The play-call was a simple handoff up the gut to Mack, but what he pulled off was anything but simple. South Florida’s dynamic running back broke through one ankle tackle after another as he busted through the first two lines of defense from UCF. In the open field, he shrugged off yet another tackle before stiff-arming one final defender and trotting into the end zone for the 56-yard score:

Now, some would call into question the ball-security here because, well, it’s absolutely terrible. Mack is holding the ball like it’s a poisonous spider for half of this run.

Poor ball-security aside, though, this is just an example of the type of plays that the South Florida star is capable of. He has the speed to hit those hole and is quick and shifty enough to make tacklers miss frequently. Mack made the rival Knights look silly on this play and put his team up 24-7 in the process.
