Ohio State defensive back Malik Hooker took advantage of some pressure and returned a pick-six against Michigan on Saturday.

In a day that was highlighted by a defensive battle between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, Malik Hooker made the biggest play to give his team some momentum. After a punt from the Buckeyes pinned the Wolverines deep, Wilton Speight had to start under center near his end zone.

As Speight dropped back on the play, the Buckeyes brought pressure up the middle against him and he had to get rid of the ball. Unfortunately for Speight, avoiding the safety cost him and he threw the ball right to the Ohio State defensive back.

Hooker would take the football and then manage to stay on his feet long enough to scamper in the end zone. While the Buckeyes were struggling to get anything going at all with the football on offense, their defense brought it early and often. The beauty of this play was set up by the middle linebackers coming free up the middle to force the bad decision.

It was the third pick-six on the season for Hooker and he has shown a nose for the end zone. In a tight battle like this, it’s going to come down to which defense can end up making the most plays. A pick-six is always a huge advantage for any team.
