4. Recruiting

Make no mistake about it, Tom Herman loaded the Houston Cougars with an abundance of talent. To turn a non-power five conference into one of the most competitive in college football requires a lot of talent and Herman brought it.

He had players make the NFL during his tenure and the pipeline really flowed in for him. It takes a talented roster to be able to knock off the likes of a Florida State or Oklahoma and that’s what the Cougars had with their roster.

At Texas, Herman is going to have the power of one of the largest brands on his side and that’s going to be a major selling point. He was already able to get great talent at Houston and now he will have his chance to get the best talent in the country.

If Texas wants to win again, they have to win with their recruiting and Herman’s going to do that. His first recruiting class should be loaded with talent and just his name alone could cause some star recruits to flip to Texas.
