147. After playing above their heads for the first couple of weeks, the Brooklyn Nets have crashed back down to Earth. The prolonged absence of their superstar point guard Jeremy Lin has had a negative impact on this group. Since leaving the game against the Detroit Pistons on November 2 with an injured hamstring, the Nets have gone 2-9 including seven consecutive losses. Kenny Atkinson’s 3-pointer heavy, floor spacing, motion offense magic has worn off without an NBA caliber point guard to run it. Brook Lopez is playing just slightly above 25 minutes a game, but seems to be unable to attract the attentions of other teams for a potential trade (and the Nets need to sell him at his highest this season). Brooklyn is saying all the right things despite the losses continuing to pile up and maybe they can recapture their early fortune when Lin does return.
