. CB. Alabama. Marlon Humphrey. 5. player. 30

What a bad season it has been for the New York Jets, who have played poorly on both sides of the ball. The team decided to bring back Ryan Fitzpatrick after his incredible season in 2015, only to see injuries and bad play force him to the bench. He is back under center for the team now, but is definitely not the team’s future at the position.

The organization took Bryce Petty in the fourth round two years ago, and Christian Hackenberg in the second round last year, so they will likely get a shot at running the show before the team hits up another draft for an arm. One huge are of concern, aside from the quarterback position, has to be cornerback play, where veteran Darrelle Revis suddenly looks very old. Whether he hurt, or just way up there in age to approach his Revis Island status, it is time to get him some help back in the secondary.

Alabama’s Marlon Humphrey is my favorite cornerback in this draft, but he could certain be picked after one or two others. His ability to get after the ball is second to no-one in this class, and he has incredible hands for someone that plays in the defensive backfield. He is the son of a former NFL running back, and just has that kind of tenacity that would play well in New York. Adding Humphrey to the secondary could take some of the pressure off Revis, who is no longer an elite player.
