Indiana Hoosiers sophomore OG Anunoby went up into the stratosphere to catch and finish this massive lob against the North Carolina Tar Heels

OG Anunoby was one of the players on many people’s “ones-to-watch” lists heading into the 2016-17 college basketball season. The Indiana Hoosiers sophomore progressed tremendously over the end of last season. He showed that he could be a potentially unstoppable two-way player, with a big reason being his absurd athleticism. On Wednesday night, the North Carolina Tar Heels found out the hard way (with authority) just how athletic Anunoby is.

At home in Assembly Hall, the Hoosiers were taking it to the No. 3-ranked Tar Heels in the first half. In terms of hustle, execution, rebounding, and just about everything else, it was all Indiana. What’s more, the home crowd was absolutely rocking. Then Anunoby made something happen that had to shake the foundation.

Up 10 points already, the Hoosiers turned the ball over and North Carolina tried to get out and run. However, Joel Berry coughed the ball up around midcourt on the break. That gave the ball to Josh Newkirk. Amidst the confusion, Anunoby then snuck in behind the Tar Heels defense as they scrambled to get back. Newkirk then threw a high lob up to his star forward and Anunoby went all the way to the top floor to get it and bring down the thunder:

This is what you call a momentum-builder if you’re the Hoosiers and a kick to the groin if you’re the Tar Heels.

Up to this game, North Carolina had looked potentially like the best team in the country. Meanwhile, Indiana lost to Fort Wayne last week. Neither team was occupying those assumed roles in the first half. However, Anunoby was certainly occupying his role as the premier athlete that he is with plays like this.
