Minkah Fitzpatrick returned a pick-six to give the Alabama Crimson Tide the lead over the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship.

While the Alabama Crimson Tide let the Florida Gators go down the field and score to begin the 2016 SEC Championship, their defense quickly kicked things into gear after. As Austin Appleby tried to repeat the success of the first drive, he threw two straight interceptions on the next two drives.

After Shaun Dion Hamilton got the first pick, Minkah Fitzpatrick took the second one and went 44 yards for a touchdown and pick-six. He followed his blockers the entire distance and ran right into an open end zone.

For Florida, it turned into a disaster after the hot start they got off to. Appleby threw two ill-advised throws over the middle and both ended up turning into 10 points for the Crimson Tide.

A lot of times in these situations the underdog team will get a lead and then try to take some chances. However, neither of those chances paid off and the Gators were quickly reminded why Alabama is the top team in the nation.

Fitzpatrick has done a great job all season of return passes for touchdowns and this is yet another highlight moment for him. The Crimson Tide’s defense knew they had to lock in after a slow start and two interceptions proved they were settling in.
