Dede Westbrook out for game after taking brutal hit (Video)
Oklahoma’s Dede Westbrook got absolutely obliterated with this hit from an Oklahoma State defender.
The Oklahoma-Oklahoma State Bedlam game features a handful of top talent, including players that will be in the NFL Draft or even at this month’s Heisman Trophy presentation. This includes the likes of Baker Mayfield, Dede Westbrook, and Mason Rudolph.
Westbrook, who is Oklahoma’s star wide receiver, had a few big plays early on. Mayfield hit him for a 69-yard touchdown pass to go up, 10-3. However, the Cowboys quickly answered with a score of their own to even things up.
However, during the second quarter, the 23-year-old took a brutal hit from an Oklahoma State defender. As he went to go catch a ball in the middle of the field, he came down with it, but immediately got clobbered with a hit around the collarbone area and slammed to the ground. This caused Westbrook to lay on the ground for a few minutes as trainers checked on him.
Luckily, Westbrook walked to the sideline under his own power. He cracked a smile too, so it seems he’s in good spirits for however good or bad he’s feeling.
The FOX broadcast team didn’t mention anything about an injury to Westbrook, so it seems he may have just gotten the wind knocked out of him. That would be the best case scenario, so the Sooners could then get him back for the second half and look to overcome a 17-10 deficit.

However, when the second half started, it was announced Westbrook is out for the rest of the game. This is a tough blow for the Sooners and for Westbrook to make another push for the Heisman Trophy.
