Alabama scored against Florida on a blocked punt, but what happened after was maybe even crazier

Well, if anything, the 2016 SEC Championship Game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators has brought the excitement. It’s been quite the first quarter that included one of the craziest plays we’ve seen against Alabama all season.

In the first quarter of the biggest SEC game of the year, the Alabama special teams unit struck when they blocked a Florida punt and returned it for a score. From there, all that was left to do was kick the extra point to take a commanding 17-7 lead over the Gators of the East.

Yeah, there was just one major problem, though. Florida would block the extra point attempt by the Crimson Tide, and David Reese would take it all the way back for the score, which of course is only two points in this situation.

Hey, when you’re playing the monster that is Alabama, you need all the points that you can get. It doesn’t matter how you get them or how many there are — as long as you get them to try and pull off the upset.

This was a game that many didn’t have high hopes for, but early on here we’re really getting all the craziness that we could have asked for. Alabama’s offense isn’t doing all that well but once again the defense and special teams have stepped up to pick up the slack.

Meanwhile, Florida has just been putrid on the offensive side of the ball, which really should surprise no one watching this game.

They might need some more plays like this from the special teams unit if they wanna pull off the monumental upset.
