Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Trace McSorley continues to be amazing in the 2016 Big Ten Championship. Here he is hitting Saquon Barkley for six.

The 2016 Penn State Nittany Lions have themselves an incredible quarterback/running back tandem in signal caller Trace McSorley and tailback Saquon Barkley.

Penn State trailed the Wisconsin Badgers 31-28 early in the fourth quarter of the 2016 Big Ten Championship Game. McSorley would show that he is the best single-season quarterback in Penn State history on this incredible 18-yard touchdown strike.

This score would put Penn State up 31-28 on the Badgers early in the fourth quarter. McSorley and Barkley will be back for head coach James Franklin next season. The Nittany Lions have arrived in 2016 and the Big Ten is back!

Should Penn State hold off Wisconsin in the 2016 Big Ten Championship Game, the Nittany Lions would have a compelling case to be the first two-loss team to make the College Football Playoff. Penn State’s two defeats this year were at the hands of the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Michigan Wolverines.

Penn State won the Big Ten East this year by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Ohio State Buckeyes. That was the only loss this season by Urban Meyer’s Ohio State team. A win head-to-head over Ohio State and a Big Ten Championship in tote would be awfully hard for the College Football Selection Committee to overlook.

Ohio State could belong in the Playoff as an at-large team, but with the way that Penn State is playing in the 2016 Big Ten Championship Game, perhaps the Buckeyes won’t get there. Conference championships should be important, but not everything in the equation for the Selection Committee. They have a big decision to make.
