The College Football Playoff is set. So are all the bowl games after this weekend’s games. Here are the weekly awards as a part of College Football Blitz.

Offensive Player of the Week: Penn State Nittany Lions QB Trace McSorley

The Penn State Nittany Lions at one point trailed the Wisconsin Badgers 28-7 in the 2016 Big Ten Championship. Penn State would go on to outscore Wisconsin 31-3 to win the Big Ten Championship by the score of 38-31.

The best player on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday night was Penn State sophomore quarterback Trace McSorley. McSorley completed 22 of 31 passes for a staggering 384 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions.

For Penn State to beat a strong Wisconsin defense, McSorley would need to play a near-perfect game. Penn State got that out of its star quarterback, won the Big Ten and will play the No. 9 USC Trojans in the 2017 Rose Bowl.

Penn State may not have achieved the ultimate goal of playing in the 2017 College Football Playoff, but getting to a Rose Bowl is a huge accomplishment in its own right. The Nittany Lions are back and the Big Ten is better because of it. Look for McSorley to shine in Pasadena and in 2017.
