The Washington Nationals might be a little closer to adding starting pitcher Chris Sale to the rotation

The MLB Winter Meetings are currently taking place, meaning that there could be some big moves on the horizon taking place. Well, one of those moves could come soon, and it involves a well-known starting pitcher in Chris Sale.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, there might have been some significant progress made on Monday between the Washington Nationals and Chicago White Sox. It looks as if they’re just about in agreement on the deal, with just a few loose ends to tie up before all is said and done.

The word of Sale potentially heading to the Nationals gained some prominence on Monday morning, and now it seems that it could be a done deal sooner rather than later if things keep going this way.

Of course, you can see where the Nationals would want to get this deal done. If there is one thing that we all know about the Nationals it’s that they have a slight problem finding success in the postseason. Of course, starting pitching is what gets it done in the postseason, so adding Sale to a rotation that already includes Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg could end up paying some serious dividends come fall.

Sale has spent his entire career with the White Sox and has a lifetime record of 74-50 with an ERA of 3.00. Last season, Sale went 17-10 in 32 games with an ERA of 3.34.
