Rasmus Ristolainen picked a great time to score his first goal of the 2016-17 season, firing a one-timer past Cam Talbot in overtime.

When Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen shoots the puck, it tends to be loud. From his stick violently hitting the puck to the puck hitting whatever unfortunate obstacle is in its path, everybody knows when he shoots.

Despite his ridiculous slap shot, Ristolainen entered Tuesday night’s game against the Edmonton Oilers with no goals during the 2016-17 NHL season. In overtime, he scored his first goal during a power play, firing a one-timer past Cam Talbot.

Talbot has no chance at this one. Thanks to some impressive puck movement from the Sabres, he gets caught out of position. Ristolainen makes sure he pays for his mistake with his first goal of the season. And boy was it loud. You can hear him hit the puck and hear the puck go in off the bar. Usually a “ping” is an unfortunate sound to hear, but in this case, it’s a good one.

Since getting Jack Eichel back, the Buffalo Sabres have been playing much better. Despite playing a very good Oilers team on the second end of a back to back, they managed to get a win in overtime. Not only that, they nearly beat the Washington Capitals on Monday. Buffalo took them to overtime as well, though they lost thanks to a Marcus Johansson overtime goal. However, give credit to the Sabres for being able to overcome a 3-2 deficit to Edmonton. Buffalo has now swept their season series against the Oilers.
