T.J. Carrie picks off Alex Smith to begin second half (Video)
Oakland Raiders defensive back T.J. Carrie picked off Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith to begin the second half of Thursday Night Football.
After the Kansas City Chiefs went into the second half with a double-digit lead over the Oakland Raiders on Thursday night, defensive back T.J. Carrie helped his team cut the deficit. Alex Smith got off to a great start in the first half, but he struggled to begin the second half.
Smith threw straight to Carrie, who was able to return the football straight into Kansas City territory. After the Chiefs got out to a 21-3 lead, the Raiders were able to get a touchdown before the end of the half and started the second one with a little bit of momentum here.
The Raiders were able to cut the deficit a little more with a field goal. To make matters worse for Alex Smith and the Chiefs, the Raiders would get the ball right back. Khalil Mack would get around the offensive land and would poke the ball away to force a fumble.
For the struggles they had stopping the Chiefs in the first half, the defense was much more energized to begin the second half and it was clear the Raiders’ defense was going to force the issue of getting back into the game.
It all started with the interception from Carrie, who read the quarterback perfectly. The Raiders have relied on their defense to make big plays all year and this was yet another example of someone stepping up big time.
