Buffalo Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander gets his first career interception, taking the ball away from Ben Roethlisberger.

Buffalo Bills outside linebacker Lorenzo Alexander picked the right time to get his first career interception. Alexander, who has been one of the bright spots for an under-performing Bills team all season, has already proved that he is adept at getting to the quarterback in sending 10 of them to the turf, which is good for third in the league.

But what has eluded Alexander all season was picking off a quarterback’s pass, but that all changed against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers.

With 10:44 to go in the first quarter, with Ben Rothlisberger driving the vaunted Steelers offense to the Bills 15-yard line, it looked like the Steelers would punch it in for an early 7-0 lead. But when Rothlisberger dropped back to pass to tight end Ladarius Green, Alexander dropped back and picked off the pass intended for Green and returned it for 28 yards.

Alexander’s first career interception was just what the Bills needed to rejuvenate a defense that would had taken a hit in the confidence department if the Steelers would have got in the end zone.

But despite Alexander’s historic efforts, the Bills were unable to score, and on Pittsburgh’s next possession, they would issue some payback against Alexander and the Bills defense by doing what they do best — scoring a touchdown.
