Philadelphia Eagles TE Trey Burton’s long snap shows that he can do it all.
Is there anything Philadelphia Eagles’ TE Trey Burton can’t do?
He has asserted himself as a rising star in the NFL, but nobody in their right minds would have thought that the Eagles “do everything” man could actually do everything. Well, he showed us all he could during the Eagles’ home game against the Washington Redskins.
Philadelphia’s normal long snapper (and card trick guru) Jon Dorenbos has been an iron man for the Eagles, playing in 160 straight games. Early against the hated Redskins, Dorenbos went down with a wrist injury, and with Brent Celek as the backup, the Eagles were in a tough spot.
Enter Burton.
The Eagles Swiss Army Knife had done every on the field except attempt a long snap, but he was forced to do so after Celek low-snaped a 50-yard field goal attempt that would have given Philadelphia the lead and he himself headed to the locker room with an injury.
Burton made the third long snapper the Eagles would put on the field on this chilly day, and his first snap went high. But Philly punter Donnie Jones was able to get it down and kicker Caleb Sturgis nailed a 41-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 22-21 lead.
Burton w/high snap, but punter Donnie Jones did a nice job getting it down. Sturgis nails FG. #Eagles lead 22-21 w/4:59 left #Redskins

As usual in The City of Brotherly Love, Burton is now being hailed as a Philly hero, a guy long-suffering Eagles fans can pin their hopes to and say to the rest of the NFL world, “that’s my Swiss Army Knife!”
Trey Burton is now my favorites Eagle. As a Coach you have to love it when someone says, Coach I'll go in and do it!!! https://t.co/ENseIuhO8N
