Wright State Raiders’ Steven Davis throws down the best jam of the college basketball season. Here he is using a poor Urbana player as a step-ladder.

It’s only the middle of December 2016, but we just saw the best dunk of the 2016 college basketball season. The race is over after what the Wright State Raiders’ Steven Davis did on this poor Urbana Blue Knights defender in Division II ball on Tuesday night.

Davis gets so high up in the air on this jam that he pretty much uses Urbana guard Dalton Payton as a step-ladder to climb up to the stratosphere.

There aren’t posterizations this magnificent in Division II hoops, but this one will do. Some guy on the end of the Urbana bench peaced out mid-dunk because he could bear to watch his teammate get this humiliated.

Wright State was already up big in the first half. How does a team down 38-14 with two and a half minutes come back from that? Just dribble out the clock, get by for another two-plus minutes, and promptly wave the white flag to call it quits at halftime.

For the love of the game, that was as brutal of an above-the-rim beatdown that we’ll ever see. Davis will get love for this dunk for the rest of the week, maybe into the new year? How does this surrendered dunk change the life of Payton? Basketball might not be fun anymore…

Sometimes the best highlights come from the games we weren’t watching. Louisville vs. Kentucky or the biannual meetings of Duke vs. North Carolina came be more enticing games, but this dunk by Wright State’s Davis is the most insane thing you’ll see this basketball season. It doesn’t even look real. Goodness.
