The Potters should find the going a little easier at home against Southampton on Wednesday. Mark Hughes’ side have impressed since an awful start to the season. Marko Arnautovic, Joe Allen and Xherdan Shaqiri are all playing well and combining to increasingly dangerous effect in the attacking third.

Southampton have picked up more or less where they left off last season. They were bumped down to 11th after Everton and Bournemouth won on Tuesday, but three points at Stoke could see them head into the weekend as high as seventh. Manager Claude Puel has had to rely primarily on his defense so far this season. The 15 goals the Saints have conceded are the third fewest in the league behind Chelsea and Tottenham. Puel will be hoping the return of Dusan Tadic from injury, plus more playing time for new signing Sofiane Boufal, will inspire an attack that has managed only 14 league goals all season.
