The New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors stood together at center court while Steve Kerr delivered an impassioned speech in honor of Craig Sager.

The NBA world was left devastated when Craig Sager passed away after a long bout with leukemia. Even before he was diagnosed with it, he brought joy to everyone by always wearing a colorful suit and having a smile on his face. He may have had his complications with Kevin Garnett and Gregg Popovich, but there wasn’t a single person in the league that he wasn’t on good terms with.

When he did get cancer, he garnered a lot of praise with the way he fought it into remission. But when it came back this year, there wasn’t much he could do. With the Golden State Warriors being on the first TNT broadcast since his death, they decided to pay tribute to Sager. So they got together with the New York Knicks, while coach Steve Kerr gave this powerful speech:

There wasn’t a single dry eye in the Oracle Arena when all was said and done. Sager’s got a powerful connection with the Warriors too. One of his last interviews was with Stephen Curry last year, who told him “you’re an inspiration for us.”

While his family will certainly mourn him, most people should celebrate his legacy. Steve Kerr certainly did that by wearing a tie that resembles Sager’s colorful wardrobe, while everyone decided to applaud him rather than have a moment of silence.

In David Aldridge, TNT has a more than capable successor on the sideline. But it’ll no doubt feel empty without him. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Sager family during this difficult time.
