What is the updated 2017 NFL Draft order heading into Week 15?

There are just three weeks left in the 2016 NFL regular season. Six teams have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention: New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers.

What does being eliminated from playoff contention do for those teams? It turns their focus toward the draft, which is a little over four short months away. You could argue that almost every one of those six teams is quarterback-needy outside of maybe the Jags and Rams. That means they’ll all have their eye on guys like Mitch Trubisky and Deshaun Watson.

A report came out earlier this week that the Jets were “all over” Trubisky, a North Carolina product. Any team that’s looking into him must understand the risk involved given that he only started for one year with the Tar Heels.

Teams that choose to draft on a “best available” basis will be looking at powerful edge rushers like Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett or Alabama’s Jonathan Allen. The Browns, who look like a safe bet to have the first pick, might be smart to look at one of those two players. The team will possess two first round picks so they have some flexibility.

Another big question is where running backs like Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette will go. Both have star potential and after the Cowboys’ success with Ezekiel Elliott teams may be more inclined to draft a back early.

Here’s the current draft order prior to Week 15:

  1. Cleveland Browns (0-13)
  2. San Francisco 49ers (1-12)
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-11)
  4. Chicago Bears (3-10)
  5. Tennessee Titans (From Rams)
  6. New York Jets (4-9)
  7. Carolina Panthers (5-8)
  8. New Orleans Saints (5-8)
