Gildan New Mexico Bowl Odds And Prediction
Bowl season is finally upon us! With the Army-Navy game last weekend, we didn’t even have to go a whole week without a game! First up is the Gildan New Mexico Bowl!

The bowl season kicks off with six games tomorrow. It’s almost like a whole football Saturday! I will not make a pick for the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl. I wouldn’t be doing you any justice there. The only 1-AA teams I have watched are North Dakota State and Youngstown State. I wouldn’t be making an educated pick.
However, for the rest of the bowls, you will get my picks against the spread just like I did all season long. I didn’t have a great regular season, but I can make it look a whole lot better with a strong bowl season!
UTSA vs. New Mexico(-7.5) at Albuquerque, NM(5):
New Mexico (8-4, 6-2 Mountain West):
Wins: vs. South Dakota(48-21), vs. San Jose State(48-41), vs. Air Force(45-40), vs. Louisiana-Monroe(59-17), at Hawaii(28-21), vs. Nevada(35-26), at Utah State(24-21), vs. Wyoming(56-35)
Losses: at New Mexico State(31-32), at Rutgers(28-37), vs. Boise State(21-49), at Colorado State(31-49)
Record vs. bowl teams: 3-2
Led by a good triple option attack and a whole stable of running backs, the Lobos managed to knock off Mountain division champion Wyoming and an Air Force team that won nine games. They even have a quarterback that can come in and throw if necessary!
UTSA(6-6, 5-3 Conference USA):
Wins: vs. Alabama State(26-13), vs. Southern Mississippi(55-32), at Rice(14-13), vs. North Texas(31-17), at Middle Tennessee State(45-25), vs. Charlotte(33-14)
Losses: at Colorado State(14-23), vs. Arizona State(28-32), at Old Dominion(19-33), vs. UTEP(49-52), at Louisiana Tech(35-63), at Texas A&M(10-23)
Record vs. bowl teams: 3-4
The Roadrunners have only had a team for five years. Larry Coker built this program, and it would seem that he knew what he was doing. The Roadrunners used their balanced attack to knock off three bowl teams, put a scare into Arizona State, and hang with an almighty SEC team. This is going to be a party for the Roadrunner faithful!
Prediction:
Both teams lost to Colorado State in Fort Collins this year. UTSA actually kept it closer. A lot of action is going on the Lobos in what is essentially a home game for them, but don’t sleep on how important this game is to UTSA in the building of their program. I honestly think the Roadrunners played better teams. I even like them straight up!
Pick: UTSA
