Raycom Camellia Bowl Odds And Prediction
Bowl season is finally upon us! With the Army-Navy game last weekend, we didn’t even have to go a whole week without a game! Next up is the Raycom Camellia Bowl!

The bowl season kicks off with six games tomorrow. It’s almost like a whole football Saturday! I will not make a pick for the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl. I wouldn’t be doing you any justice there. The only 1-AA teams I have watched are North Dakota State and Youngstown State. I wouldn’t be making an educated pick.
However, for the rest of the bowls, you will get my picks against the spread and point wagers just like I did all season long. I didn’t have a great regular season, but I can make it look a whole lot better with a strong bowl season!
Just in case you missed any:
Gildan New Mexico Bowl
Geico Las Vegas Bowl
Appalachian State vs. Toledo(EVEN) at Montgomery, AL(1):
Appalachian State(9-3, 7-1 Sun Belt):
Wins: vs. Old Dominion(31-7), at Akron(45-38), vs. Georgia State(17-3), at Louisiana-Lafayette(24-0), vs. Idaho(37-19), at Georgia Southern(34-10), vs. Texas State(35-10), vs. Louisiana-Monroe(42-17), at New Mexico State(37-7)
Losses: at Tennessee(13-20), vs. Miami(FL)(10-45), at Troy(24-28)
Record vs. bowl teams: 3-3
Taylor Lamb leads a balanced offense on an experienced team. The Mountaineers gave Tennessee all they wanted before falling in overtime in Knoxville to open the season. The defense looked good against Tennessee, but was exploited by a good Miami offense two weeks later. The good news is that Toledo’s offense, while good, is not the caliber of Miami.
Toledo(9-3, 6-2 MAC):
Wins: at Arkansas State(31-10), vs. Maine(45-3), vs. Fresno State(52-17), at Eastern Michigan(35-20), vs. Bowling Green(42-35), vs. Central Michigan(31-17), at Akron(48-17), vs. Northern Illinois(31-24), vs. Ball State(37-19)
Losses: at BYU(53-55), vs. Ohio(26-31), at Western Michigan(35-55)
Record vs. bowl teams: 3-3
Kareem Hunt is one of the better backs you will see this bowl season. Logan Woodside threw for nearly 4,000 yards this year, and Cody Thompson is going to be tough for Appalachian State to match up with. Is the MAC better than the Sun Belt? We will find out this bowl season. There are three such matchups!
Prediction:
The only common opponent is Akron, whom both teams beat in Akron. Toledo stuck it to them while the Mountaineers have to hang on. The difference is that Appalachian State was coming off of a tough loss to a SEC team. Appalachian took on the big boys. Toledo did not. Will that affect the outcome of this game? Also, the Mountaineers are the defending champions of this game. However, to me the difference lies with which team has the future NFL player(s).
Pick: Toledo
