Miami Dolphins backup quarterback Matt Moore launched a 52-yard bomb to wide receiver Kenny Stills for a touchdown.

The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets had to brave a physical first half in the elements on Saturday night. With the Dolphins playing for a playoff spot and the Jets trying to take down their rival, there were plenty of brutal hits early. However, backup quarterback Matt Moore made the biggest play in the first half, courtesy of a pass to Kenny Stills.

As the Dolphins trailed the Jets by one in the second quarter, Moore saw Stills get past his man and get wide open in space. He dropped the ball in perfectly deep and Stills ran the rest of the way into the end zone for the 52-yard touchdown.

The Dolphins were put in a tough position coming into this game against the Jets. Not only were they on the short week, but they are without quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Their starting quarterback suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Arizona Cardinals last week.

Moore has plenty of experience under center during his time in the league as a backup and has been a valuable one for the Dolphins. The throw he made here shows why the Dolphins trust him so much to keep them in the playoff hunt. Coming into this game, the Dolphins were firmly planted in a race for the second Wild Card spot.

While it was a great throw, you have to give credit to Stills for having the wheels to work his way into the end zone and give his team the lead. Andrew Franks would make the extra point after missing his first one.
