Fresh off a tough midweek loss to top of the table Chelsea, Sunderland enter this match in dead last, firmly in the relegation zone. After beginning the season without a win in 11 consecutive matches, the Black Cats went on something of a run in November, winning two of three in the month and three of four extending into December. They fell back with a loss to Swansea, however, and the fact that only three players have scored in league this season is obviously troubling.

Watford are also coming off a midweek loss against a powerful opponent, having come up short against Manchester City in Manchester on Wednesday. Still, Walter Mazzarri’s squad has a knack for beating vulnerable opponents, and they tend to spread the ball around in order to get goals from anywhere they can. The Hornets will likely be without Roberto Pereyra, who had been in good form prior to suffering a knee injury against City. Troy Deeney, meanwhile, continues to look for his 100th Watford goal.
