3. Drew Brees

Another veteran option available to the Chiefs this offseason could be New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. After another dismal season, the Saints might be ready to fully embrace a rebuild. If that’s the case, Brees deserves to have the option of being traded to a contending team. Having him stick around for a year likely isn’t going to change much and it could counterproductive to the Saints’ future goals.

If Brees is willing to accept a trade and New Orleans bites the bullet on the rebuild, the Chiefs are a perfect fit for the Super Bowl winner. The most famous Purdue Boilermakers quarterback of all-time would thrive in Kansas City. He’s a perfect fit with Andy Reid’s offense and just like in New Orleans, he’d have a plethora of deadly options to throw to.

Perhaps the most enticing thing about Brees is his contract. He has no more dead cap space after 2018, giving the Chiefs a two year window to win a Super Bowl. Brees has what it takes to take Kansas City to the next level. They need a quarterback who can win shootouts with Derek Carr only getting better from here on out. Brees can do that.
