Two of the nation’s most explosive offenses will meet on Tuesday night at FAU Stadium when the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers take on the Memphis Tigers in the 2016 Boca Raton Bowl.

Western Kentucky put together its second straight perfect season in Conference USA play, finishing at 10-2 overall. The Hilltoppers led the country in scoring offense at 48.8 points per game and have scored at least 44 points in each of their last eight contests, all of which were wins.

Quarterback Mike White hasn’t missed a beat taking over for former star Brandon Doughty, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 34 touchdowns to six interceptions. Anthony Wales added 1,376 yards and 24 touchdowns on the ground, while Taywan Taylor finished second in the country with 1,586 receiving yards.

One interesting storyline to watch will be how the Western Kentucky offense adjusts without head coach Jeff Brohm, who left to take the job at Purdue. Defensive coordinator Nick Holt, who helped the Hilltoppers put together a decent unit this season, will serve as the interim head coach.

Memphis lost head coach Justin Fuente and star quarterback Paxton Lynch last offseason, but still managed a solid 9-4 season under Mike Norvell. The Tigers averaged 39.5 points per contest to rank 19th in the nation and picked up solid wins over Temple and Houston in AAC play.

Quarterback Riley Ferguson had a solid season in place of Lynch with 3,326 yards and 28 touchdowns to nine interceptions. Ferguson’s favorite target was Anthony Miller, who piled up 84 catches for 1,283 yards and 11 touchdowns.
